Combining rhinoplasty with sinus surgery allows you to reshape your nose while also correcting chronic sinus issues. Even if you have never considered rhinoplasty before, this surgery allows you to change aspects of your nose that may have been bothering you. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kent Davis can perform this procedure combination for patients in Houston and the surrounding area.
The Benefits of This Combined Procedure
There are several benefits to combining these two procedures. By combining the two, there is only one surgery, one anesthesia, and one recovery. If you were to have these two procedures separately, each procedure would require a week-long recovery. By combining the procedures, you will only have a one-week period of downtime. It is also more cost-effective to combine the procedures. With this combination procedure, you will also have fewer appointments and won’t have to wait to recover between treatments. Ultimately, you will be able to breathe easier while also having your nose re-shape to your desired goal.
Dr. Davis frequently recycles some of the cartilage from the septum while performing a septoplasty that would normally have been discarded but instead uses it for structural grafts in the rhinoplasty to obtain the desired shape and give it strength to maintain that shape over time. If a patient were to proceed with septoplasty and then return later for rhinoplasty, sometimes there is not adequate donor cartilage available in the nose. Dr. Davis may have to harvest some cartilage from an ear or a rib. Therefore, it is ideal to do these surgeries simultaneously while that septal cartilage is exposed and available.
